BT: How did you meet?
M & J: Some mutual friends wanted to introduce us because they thought we would be a perfect match. They tried setting us up a couple of times, but we couldn’t find the time. A month later, Joaquín reached out to María on Instagram to invite her for drinks at a restaurant-bar María suggested (Farmacia Internacional).
BT: Do you think being creatives in different disciplines has brought you closer as a couple and as friends?
M & J: Definitely. We enjoy doing a lot of things related to art, food, music, design, and nature.
BT: How did you get into photography, and what do you enjoy most about working with it?
Maria: I’ve always loved the idea of telling stories. I officially started when I met Joaquín, as one of his roommates at the time (now a close friend) lent me his cameras to learn and fall in love with photography.
BT:How do you stay inspired with new ideas? Who are your influences?
Maria: Traveling always opens my mind—meeting new people and learning about different cultures.
BT:What do you like to do during your BANANATIME—that is, your free time to rest or relax?
Maria: Reading, going to the movies, and cooking.
BT:Any recommendations for Mexico City? Restaurants, bars, things to do, etc.?
Maria: Anahuacalli Museum, Chapultepec Forest, Café "Totte Para Todos," eating at Loose Blues in Juárez, browsing Antonia Librería, and trying García Madero’s pastries in Condesa.
